The El Paso Chihuahuas stopped the Iowa Cubs' three-run ninth inning rally and hung on to win 7-6 Wednesday night at Southwest University Park. The two teams split the first two games of the series, with both games decided by one run.

Nick Buss went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Buss' batting average remains at .367, which was tied for first in the Pacific Coast League entering play Wednesday. El Paso starter Michael Kelly allowed three runs in six innings and picked up his third win in his last four starts. Chihuahuas' relievers Brad Wieck and Jason Jester tossed a scoreless inning each.
Chase d'Arnaud started in center field Wednesday, the fifth different position he's played in 13 games with El Paso. With the Chihuahuas win Wednesday and first place Salt Lake's loss at Memphis, El Paso is in third place in the Southern Division, only two games out of first.
