Elizabethton, Tenn. - While Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark's Fourth of July fireworks were not supposed to begin until after Thursday night's game, the Elizabethton Twins' offense started them early against the Kingsport Mets, smashing three home runs to top the Mets 6-2.
Alex Isola kick-started the holiday celebration with a two-run shot, his first career home run, in the second inning. Albee Weiss joined the part in the sixth with a solo blast and Willie Joe Garry Jr. added one for good measure as well in the seventh. Like Isola, it was Garry Jr.'s first pro home run.
Those home runs made up nearly all of the Elizabethton offense, with Seth Gray bringing in a run in the sixth inning as well on a double play that scored Spencer Steer.
Ben Gross, meanwhile, pitched his second straight quality start, allowing just one earned run over six innings with four strikeouts.
The bullpen arms that followed Gross picked up where he left off, as Steven Cruz and Nate Hadley combined for three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
The E-Twins look to win the series Friday night against Kingsport, first pitch is once against scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
