SeaWolves Drop Game One to Fightins

The SeaWolves dropped the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader to the Reading Fightin Phils, 4-1, at UPMC Park. Erie jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning against Reading starter JoJo Romero when Jacob Robson led off and slammed a solo home run to right for a 1-0 lead.

Erie jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning against Reading starter JoJo Romero when Jacob Robson led off and slammed a solo home run to right for a 1-0 lead. It was the second home run of the season for Robson.
Reading took the lead in the top of the fourth against Erie starter Spencer Turnbull. Zach Green, Cornelius Randolph and Jan Hernandez started the inning with three straight hits. Brandon Bednar reached on an error, scoring Green, tying the game 1-1. With Cord Sanberg batting, a wild pitch plated Randolph for a 2-1 Reading lead.
The Fightin Phils added to the lead in the top of the fifth. Malquin Canelo led off with a single and stole a pair of bases to get to third. He scored on a two-out Hernandez base hit making it 3-1.
Reading added a final run in the top of the sixth. Austin Bossart tripled with one out and scored on a Zach Coppola sacrifice fly for a 4-1 advantage.
Romero (1-4) earned the win for Reading allowing a run on four hits with two walks and a season-high eight strikeouts.
Turnbull (2-4) took the loss for the SeaWolves allowing four runs on eight hits with two walks and a season-high nine strikeouts.
Seth McGarry worked a scoreless bottom of the seventh to earn his third save.
