SeaWolves Drop Series Finale to Senators

The SeaWolves suffered a road series sweep at the hands of the Harrisburg Senators with a 4-2 loss on Thursday afternoon at FNB Field.
Harrisburg took the lead for the third straight day in the second inning. Erie starter Sandy Baez surrendered a leadoff single to Drew Ward. Ward moved to second on a groundout and scored on a Zach Collier two-out, RBI double for a 1-0 lead.
The Senators added a run in the bottom of the fourth. Adam Walker led off with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Walker scored on a one-out Collier base hit making it 2-0 Senators.
The SeaWolves, after struggling to hit with runners on base for the first five innings, broke through in the top of the sixth against Senators starter Logan Darnell. Troy Montgomery was hit by a pitch with one out and was tripled home by A.J. Simcox making it a 2-1 game. Simcox would be stranded on third.
The Senators added to the lead in the last of the sixth. Dan Gamache led off with a single and Ward followed with an opposite-field, two-run home run for a 4-1 advantage.
Erie got one run in the top of the ninth against reliever Bryan Harper. With one out, Jacob Robson lined a ball to deep left-center, the ball went off the glove of the centerfielder and the end result was a Robson inside the park home run. The home run made it a 4-2 game. Harper would retire the next two batters, earning his third save.
Darnell (3-2) earned the win for the Senators allowing a run on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
Baez (0-3) took the loss for the SeaWolves allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings.
The SeaWolves return home to UPMC Park on Friday to take on the Trenton Thunder at 6:05 p.m. Righty Spencer Turnbull (2-4, 4.39 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Dillon Tate (2-2, 3.48 ERA).
Friday, the first 1,000 fans receive a Christin Stewart bobblehead on Game of Thrones night. The collectable features the 2017 Eastern League home run king sitting on a throne of bats. Fans can also enjoy Happy Hour in the Bud Light Beer Garden until first pitch.
