The SeaWolves notched their second shutout in the past three games as they took down the Harrisburg Senators 3-0 on Tuesday night at UPMC Park.
The SeaWolves broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth against Harrisburg starter Brady Dragmire. Will Maddox led off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball. Maddox moved to third on Josh Lester groundout and scored on a Gabriel Quintana groundout for a 1-0 lead.
Erie added to the lead in the fifth. Jake Rogers and Troy Montgomery started the inning with back-to-back singles and moved into scoring position on an error. With one out, Jacob Robson reached on an infield single, plating Rogers for a 2-0 lead. Maddox followed with a sacrifice fly to left, plating Montgomery for a 3-0 lead.
Erie starter Spencer Turnbull (1-3) was superb, earning his first Double-A win. He hurled six scoreless frames, allowing two hits with two walks and six strikeouts. It was the second straight quality start for Turnbull.
Dragmire (2-2) took the loss despite a quality start. He allowed three runs on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts in seven innings.
Kyle Dowdy earned his first career save tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
The SeaWolves will look for the series win on Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. Righty Kyle Funkhouser (0-3, 4.88 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Jefry Rodriguez (1-3, 3.90 ERA).
