Vancouver stops the sweep as they beat Eugene 5-2

The Emeralds’ season-high six consecutive wins ended tonight after the Canadians beat Eugene in the last game of the series. Left-handed pitcher Nick Zwack was given the ball to start the game at P.K Park. In four innings, he allowed four hits, two runs, one walk, and struck out seven.

Left-handed pitcher Nick Zwack was given the ball to start the game at P.K Park. In four innings, he allowed four hits, two runs, one walk, and struck out seven. Abel Adames was given the loss tonight after allowing one hit, one run, one walk, and striking out two in his one-inning performance.

Eugene hopped on the board first in the third inning after Carter Williams doubled on a fly ball to left field, and Luis Matos scored. The next batter, Jairo Pomares, hit an RBI sacrifice fly to center field, and Carter came home.

A few innings later, Vancouver scored their first three runs. Catcher Andres Sosa doubled on a fly ball to center field, and second baseman Miguel Hiraldo scored. Dasan Brown hit his first home run of the season and brought home two runners.

Brett Standlee threw a wild pitch at the top of the seventh inning, and Sosa scored the Canadians’ fourth run of the night.

Vancouver walked away with the win in the top of the eighth inning after Sosa hit an RBI single to left field for their fifth and final run.

The Emeralds will head up to Hillsboro next week to start a 12-game road trip.
