Eugene, OR - Two late runs against the bullpen for the Emeralds tied the game but a great throw home by Jose Gonazalez in the ninth and a Chris Singleton catch at the wall in the tenth kept the game tied and gave the Ems the chance to walk-off against the Spokane Indians 3-2 in from of 3,507 at PK Park.
Chris Singleton started the tenth inning reaching first on a drop third strike. A Jared Young sac bunt moved him into scoring position and a Brandon Hughes walk put further pressure on Spokane (25-29, 9-7) reliever Joe Barlow (4-1).
After an Austin Filiere strikeout, Ramsey Romano did not disappoint the Ems' (28-26-7-9) faithful, driving a two-out, 1-2 pitch into centerfield to score Singleton from second, his first walk-off hit as a professional.
Scoring started early for the Ems, who continued their recent trend of scoring first, as they hammered home a pair in the third inning off Spokane starter Hever Bueno. Zach Davis started the inning by getting hit by a pitch and promptly stole second before Singleton grounded out to the right side and moved Davis over.
Young then singled through the pulled in infield to score Davis. A Hughes walk moved Young to second when Filiere drove the first pitch he saw past a diving third baseman to score Young and make it a 2-0 game for the Ems.
It looked like that would be all the Ems pitching staff would need as Brendon Little was brilliant on his 21st birthday. Little threw for a career high four-innings and allowed just three hits and one walk, while striking out three.
Spokane finally broke through when Erich Uelman relieved Little in the fifth. Spokane loaded the bases with no one out after a single and two walks, but Uelman managed to induce Miguel Aparicio in to a double play and got a lineout to end the inning, letting Spokane score just once.
They would tie the game in the seventh when Kole Enright took a 1-0 pitch and drove it over the wall for his third homer of the year and make it a 2-2 game.
Brian Glowicki picked up his first win of his career, throwing three innings of two hit baseball, allowing just one walk and three strikeouts. He also benefitted from a couple of great defensive plays in the outfield late in the game.
