EVERETT, WA: Everett began a 12-game homestand Tuesday night at Funko Field against the Vancouver Canadians and almost came away with a monster comeback, falling short by a score of 12-8.

AquaSox starter Jimmy Joyce was able to get through the first two innings allowing just one run. However, the Canadians bats came out in full force in the third, fourth and fifth innings as they exploded for eight runs. First baseman PK Morris hit two solo home runs to right center field while designated hitter Rainer Nunez smashed a two-run home run to left field. Vancouver found themselves with a 9-1 lead after five innings of play.

The Frogs refused to give-up and fought back, rallying for four runs in the sixth inning. Designated Hitter Dariel Gomez hit a 420-foot mammoth home run to center field which was followed up later in the inning by a bases clearing double by catcher Charlie Welch.

Down 9-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Welch struck again, scorching a two-run double to right center field bringing the Frogs to within just one. Welch was 4-4 with six RBI’s. In just his second game back from injury, it was his first four hit game of the season.

The AquaSox comeback would fall just short as Vancouver was able to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning, all after two outs.
