Frogs Flop at Plate, 15-6

Tri-City’s bats were hot, registering twice as many hits as the ‘Sox

EVERETT, Wash. – Unable to hold onto their three-run lead, the Everett AquaSox (39-21) lost their second consecutive game against the Tri-City Dust Devils (24-37), 15-6.

EVERETT, Wash. – Unable to hold onto their three-run lead, the Everett AquaSox (39-21) lost their second consecutive game against the Tri-City Dust Devils (24-37), 15-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dust Devils jumped ahead early, scoring two runs off RBI doubles from Brennen Davis and Adrian Rondon. The ‘Sox tied the game in the bottom of the inning, scoring when Zach DeLoach hit a solo homer and again off a Dust Devil wild pitch. Tri-City reclaimed their lead the next inning with yet another RBI double.

Patrick Frick hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second, driving in two runs. The next at-bat, Austin Shenton crushed a two-run homer, giving the Frogs a 6-3 lead. Franklin Torres hit the Dust Devils’ sixth double in the top of the third, driving in two runs and leaving Tri-City trailing by one run.

The Dust Devils had a big fifth inning, scoring five runs off a fielding error, two doubles and a single. A home run and two RBI singles in the sixth tacked on an additional four runs for Tri-City, extending their lead to 14-6. Brandon White rounded out the scoring with an RBI-single in the ninth, putting the final score at 15-6.

WRAPPING IT UP

On the mound, Stephen Kolek pitched four complete innings, giving up five earned runs while striking out six. Utility player Connor Hoover closed the game, allowing one run while striking out one Dust Devil. At the plate, the ‘Sox registered nine hits, including two doubles and two home runs.

The Frogs return to Funko Field on Thursday, July 15 for their third game against the Tri-City Dust Devils. Every Thursday home game is Throwback Thursday!
