EVERETT, WA: A rare 11:05 am Kid’s Day game time seemed to inspire the Everett AquaSox as they returned home and cruised to an 8-3 win against the Hillsboro Hops. The win came in the first of 18 home games the Sox will play in the month of August. Bryan Woo (1-0) notched the win in his first start wearing an AquaSox uniform.

The Frogs hopped to it early and often, scoring four runs in the first three innings. Designated hitter Robert Perez Jr got things started with a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning. Second baseman Justin Lavey added to the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run shot, his fourth home run of the season. Left fielder Trent Tingelstad also contributed with an RBI single.

The Everett pitching staff was on, dominating the Hops hitters throughout much of the game. Woo finished with a line of 5.0 innings pitched while only allowing four hits, one run (0 ER) and five strikeouts. Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Ken Giles rejoined the AquaSox for another rehab assignment and dominated the sixth inning, making quick work of the Hops, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Perez Jr crushed a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Everett a 6-3 lead. This was the first game for Perez with Everett since being called up from Low – A Modesto just this past week. Perez went 2-5 in the game with two RBI’s. He currently leads all the minor leagues in RBI’s with 89.

Two more runs in the bottom of the eighth for the Frogs would be enough for them to secure the 8-3 victory.

This was the first of six games against the Hops at Funko Field this week. Everett comes off a six-game road trip against the Vancouver Canadians where they won the series 4-2. The playoff push begins this month as Everett finds themselves at 17-14 in the second half standings, just 2.5 games behind the Canadians.
