ROUND ROCK, Texas - Have a week, Drew Robinson ! The Round Rock Express outfielder has earned Player of the Week honors for the week of June 5 - June 11 as announced the by the Pacific Coast League office Monday afternoon. This is Robinson's fourth career weekly award and first at the Triple-A level.
The 25-year-old went 14-30 (.467) over the last seven games, including 10 extra-base hits. He scored 12 runs and knocked in 14 of the team's 59 runs. Six of Robinson's nine home runs this season came this past week, with three of them leading off the game. Robinson has now hit the Express' last four leadoff home runs dating back to September 3, 2016. In addition, his three doubles and a triple gave him 37 total bases for the week. He is just the second player since 2008 to record 37 or more total bases in a week. Reno's Mitch Haniger completed the feat July 18 - 24, 2016.
Robinson is batting .295 (57-193) with 30 RBI in 49 games in 2017. He started the season with the Texas Rangers, making his major league debut on April 5, before being optioned to Round Rock on April 12. He was recalled again by the big league club on May 28, but did not see any game action before returning to the Express on May 29. Robinson was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft by the Rangers.
This is the second weekly honor for an Express player this season. Jared Hoying was named Player of the Week April 24-30.
The Express continue their 12-day, 11-game road trip with an off-day Monday before starting a four-game series in New Orleans. The club returns to Dell Diamond on Saturday, June 17 for an eight-game homestand.
