Jackie Moore to be Inducted in Express Hall of Fame

Express to Start Organization Hall of Fame in 2014
December 18, 2013

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express announced plans for an organization Hall of Fame to kick off the celebration of their 15th season. Jackie Moore, former Express manager and Rangers bench coach, will be the first inductee. The announcement was made by the Express on Tuesday night at Hester's Auto and Body in Round Rock.

Moore was the first manager for the Express franchise and compiled a 655-607 (.519) record in eight seasons in Round Rock (2000-2007). He was named Texas League Manager of the Year in 2000, '01 and '04 and Baseball America Manager of the Year in 2001. In the team's inaugural season, Moore led the Express to a Texas League Championship. Round Rock reached the playoffs in five of Moore's eight seasons at the helm.

"In recognition of our 15th anniversary, it was the appropriate time to start memorializing Express coaches, managers and players. It is only fitting that the first inductee is Jackie, who set the stage for all Express managers both on and off the field," said Reese Ryan, Express CEO.

Moore served as bench coach of the Houston Astros for the 2008 season before joining the Texas Rangers in the same capacity prior to the 2009 season. Moore spent 11-years as an outfielder and catcher in both the Detroit and Boston organizations, reaching the major leagues in 1965 with the Tigers.

The induction ceremony will occur on Saturday, August 2nd when the Express host the Memphis Red Birds. Details on the event will be released at a later date.

The Express opens their 15th season at Dell Diamond on Thursday, April 3, 2014. For more information on the Express, visit www.RoundRockExpress.com or call (512) 255-2255. Keep up with the Express on Facebook and Twitter!
