(Reading, PA) - America's Classic Ballpark - FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Reading Fightin Phils, continued to be a popular summer destination in 2017 as 411,698 fans visited Baseballtown over 68 gate openings.
The Fightin Phils averaged 6,054 fans per game this season to finish atop the Eastern League in both total and average attendance during the regular season. The Fightins also led the Eastern League in attendance in 2016. It is the 19th time in the last 20 seasons where the Fightins have drawn an attendance figure over 400,000 fans. The Fightins 2017 attendance of 411,698 was the second highest attendance in all of Double-A baseball.
"The 2017 season will go down in the books as one of the most successful seasons in Fightins history", said Fightins General Manager Scott Hunsicker. "On the field, the team was very competitive, and more importantly, sent many players on to Triple-A, and to the big leagues. We sincerely thank the citizens of Baseballtown for their unwavering, loyal support. Despite the rainy weather, we are very proud to have again led the Eastern League in both total and average attendance. I'd like to thank the fans, our partners, and our tremendous front office staff and game staff for making America's Classic Ballpark - FirstEnergy Stadium such a special place."
The 2017 season at America's Classic Ballpark saw two of the top-25 largest crowds ever at FirstEnergy Stadium.
