Tromp named Eastern League Player of the Week

Tromp hit .455 with four home runs and seven RBI

(Reading, Pa) - The Eastern League has announced that Reading Fightin Phils outfielder Jiandido Tromp has been named Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of June 19th - June 25th. Tromp joins Fightin Phils second baseman Scott Kingery and pitcher Drew Anderson in receiving such an honor from the league.

Tromp batted .455 (10-for-22) with two doubles, four home runs, seven RBIs, five runs scored and one walk in six games last week. Tromp had at least one hit in all six of the games he played had multiple hits in three of those games. The Aruba native had a stretch of hitting a home run in three straight games and four out of five.

The outfielder is hitting .283 with nine homers, 27 RBIs, and 30 runs scored in 56 games with Reading this season, was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent on August 8, 2011.
