Win Fightins First Baseman Jim Murphy's Jaguar!

READING, Pa.---It's not often that your average fan gets to drive in lavish vehicles like professional athletes, let alone own one, but now's your chance because Reading Fightin Phils First Baseman Jim Murphy will be raffling off his Jaguar with all proceeds being donated to Baseballtown Charities and its Baer Park Rehabilitation Project.

Faced with driving the car back to his home state of Washington, Murphy decided to give the Fightins his 1991 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign to raffle off over the final nine-game homestand starting Thursday, August 22nd to benefit the team's charitable arm. Tickets to win this stately ride are $5 each or five for $20. 

The winning ticket will be drawn on Thursday, August 29th following the team's final home game at FirstEnergy Stadium where Murphy will officially present the keys to the car's new owner.

Fit for a home run king like Murphy, the XJ6 is adorned with a chrome Jaguar hood ornament atop the Savoy Gray metallic exterior. Murphy's Jaguar comes with beige leather seats, perfect cushioning for those long drives home after a night at the ballpark. Its interior has a wood finish that would make even Paul Bunyan blush. The executive car also features some of the early 1990s top amenities such as a car phone, cassette player with a six-speaker sound system, and automatic seat belts. 

Proceeds from the raffle benefit Baseballtown Charities' Baer Park renovation. Announced in May, the project is the organization's next step in revitalizing baseball in the City of Reading. As the first target identified by Baseballtown Charities and the City of Reading Parks and Recreation Commission, Baer Park will receive fencing, major field renovations, and total bleacher replacement.

Baseballtown Charities, a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity, was founded in 2002 in association with the Reading Phillies in order to keep baseball alive in Reading through charitable donations to underprivileged youth who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to play baseball. The organization also pays tribute to Reading's rich baseball history.
