Toussaint's Gem Not Enough in Loss to Tampa

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 18, 2017) -Touki Toussaint delivered six quality innings on Thursday night, but the Florida Fire Frog's offensive woes continued in the 1-0 loss to the Tampa Yankees at Osceola County Stadium. Florida dropped all four games to Tampa, handing the Atlanta Braves High-A affiliate its first series sweep of its inaugural season, and extending its losing streak to six games.

Toussaint (1-5) allowed just one run over his six innings of work, with Kyle Holder delivering a one-out, RBI triple in the fourth inning against the right-hander. The 20-year-old worked through the Yankees' lineup with a dominating curveball, setting down five men on strikes with the pitch on the night. The native of Coral Springs, Fla. tied a season-high with eight strikeouts, and issued only one walk while giving up just four hits in six innings for his fifth consecutive loss.
Florida (18-23) had its opportunities throughout the night against Zach Littell (4-1), but could not push anyone across against Tampa's (20-21) starter.
The Fire Frogs' first chance came in the second inning, when the home team had the bases loaded and one out for Alay Lago (1x3). The first-year professional bounced into an around-the-horn double play to end the early threat.
Florida had runners on the corners with one out in the sixth, but J.B. Moss (0x2) popped out, and Austin Riley (0x4) went down on strikes.
The bags were full again with one out in the eighth against Jose Pena, but the reliever punched out Moss and Riley to leave the maximum.
Cody Carroll (SV, 2) earned his second save by setting down the side in order in the final frame.
The Fire Frogs will try to get the offense going against the Palm Beach Cardinals in game one of a three-game weekend set starting Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium. RHP Enderson Franco (0-1, 5.06) takes the mound for Florida in the opener, but it has yet to be determined who will take the mound for Palm Beach.
Florida returns home to Osceola County Stadium on May 22 to take on the Clearwater Threshers for game one of a four-game series. The opener of the set features Margarita Monday, where fans can purchase $3 margaritas and $2 empanadas. The Monday contest will also be Service Industry Night at the ballpark, where members of the service industry will be able to purchase tickets at a discounted rate.
