All-American Girl Mary Pratt Coming to Dinner

We have another guest confirmed for the 2013 Granite State Baseball Dinner presented by Northeast Delta Dental. On Nov. 23, Mary Pratt of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League will join us at the head table to help raise money for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the Ted Williams Museum, and the Fisher Cats Foundation.

Pratt was a left-handed pitcher in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, which existed from 1943-1954 and inspired the hit film 'A League of Their Own.' Pratt pitched for the Rockford Peaches and the Kenosha Comets from 1943-47, amassing 28 career victories. Her best season came in 1944 when she went a combined 21-15 and threw a no-hitter against Minneapolis.

Pratt earned induction as one of the first members of the women's baseball wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., in 1988. 

Originally from Connecticut, Pratt grew up playing sports with and against boys in Massachusetts. In addition to baseball and softball, she showcased her athletic ability by also participating in basketball, field hockey, and lacrosse. She is a member of the Boston University Athletic Hall of Fame, and spent nearly 50 years as a school teacher in Massachusetts. She attended the dinner previously in 2008-10.
