Familiar Faces in New Places for 2013

January 15, 2013
The 2012-13 off-season has certainly been a busy one for the Blue Jays with headline-stealing trades turning the team into the overnight favorite in the American League East.  But, there are several other former Fisher Cats who will work to impress a new organization when pitchers and catchers report starting February 10.  Here's a look at where some old friends will spend spring training this year.

Travis d'Arnaud - Traded to the New York Mets for National League Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey on December 17.  Will likely be fighting for a big league job in Mets camp.

Zach Stewart - Traded by the Red Sox to the Pirates in November.  He'll be a contender for the Pirates rotation to begin the season along with New Hampshire native Jeff Locke.

Henderson Alvarez - Part of the big trade with Miami in November, slated as the team's No. 2 starter heading into spring training.

Mike McDade - Claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians in November.

Brian Jeroloman - Signed a minor league deal with the Indians and received an invitation to big league spring training next month.

Yan Gomes - A third former Fisher Cat now with the Tribe, the Blue Jays traded Gomes to Cleveland to bolster the bullpen in early November.

Adeiny Hechavarria - In line to be the Marlins everyday shortstop in 2013.

Jake Marisnick - Would've been the Fisher Cats starting center fielder.  Instead, one of the top prospects in the Marlins system after the big November trade.

Shaun Marcum - Injury-riddled pitcher elected free agency with Milwaukee, but is still weighing his offers for 2013.

Mark Sobolewski - Picked up by the Twins in the minor league phase of the Rule V draft.  Could face his old Fisher Cats teammates when New Hampshire visits New Britain in April.

Danny Farquhar - Added to the Mariners 40-man roster last week.

Chris Jakubauskas - Short-time Fisher Cat now a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Michael Dubee - Mid-season signing by the Jays last season now belongs in the Tigers organization.
