Fisher Cats Announce 2013 Mother's Day 3K Fun Run

Proceeds to benefit The Mom's Place at CMC
April 3, 2013

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, announced the newest installment of a tradition established in 2012-the annual Mother's Day 3K in downtown Manchester.  The team is once again partnering with Millennium Running to host the fun, family run on Sunday, May 12, at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.  The event will feature a classic family-centered road race that ends inside Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, and proceeds will benefit The Mom's Place at Catholic Medical Center

"The feedback we received from the inaugural race last year proved that this outdoor activity is a great way to spend the day with mom on her big day," said Rick Brenner, Fisher Cats President.  "In partnership with Millennium Running, we have a unique course that utilizes the walking bridge that crosses the Merrimack River, and it's perfect for competitive runners as well as moms and families who simply want to spend the day together."

The Mother's Day 3K begins at 9 a.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.  The three-kilometer route will take participants around the ballpark and onto the riverwalk's walking path for a "lollipop-style" route.  The course takes participants over the Merrimack River before taking a left onto Third Street, a right onto Blaine Street, and a right onto South Main before returning to the walking path and heading back towards the stadium.  The race will then finish inside Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

The timed fun run and race is $25, and kids 11 and under are free. After May 1, the registration cost will increase to $30.  The first 200 registrations will include one box seat ticket to the Fisher Cats' Father's Day game on June 16, and the first 500 registrants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt.

Fans can begin registering immediately at www.nhfishercats.com or www.millenniumrunning.com.  Online registration runs through May 9.  Participants can register on race day beginning at 8 a.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

The Mother's Day 3K is the fourth running collaboration between the Fisher Cats and Millennium Running.  More than 3,600 have participated in the Fisher Cats Thanksgiving 5K races in 2012 and 2013, and last year's Mother's Day 3K saw more than 400 participants cross the finish line inside the ballpark.

The Fisher Cats open their tenth season in Manchester on Thursday, April 4, against the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) at 6:35 p.m.  The first 5,000 fans will receive a 10th Anniversary souvenir ticket courtesy of Spectrum Marketing Companies.  Tickets are on sale now for Opening Day, and every other game this season.  To purchase tickets, visit www.nhfishercats.com, call (603) 641-2005, or stop by the ticket office at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
