CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Clearwater Threshers have set a new single-season attendance record for Bright House Field with 195,063 guests over 70 home openings in the 2014 season. The new mark breaks the previous record of 177,297, set in 2012 over 69 openings. The average attendance was 2,787.
The record is also the second-highest single-season total all-time for a Florida State League team, passing the 190,146 mark set by the 1990 St. Petersburg Cardinals.
"It is extremely rewarding to have set an all-time attendance record," said Clearwater Threshers GM John Timberlake. "The Threshers staff has worked diligently to accomplish this goal. We put a plan in place last fall and were very successful. It truly is a testament to our fans here in Clearwater and the surrounding areas. They turned out nightly during the season and embraced the many promotions and special events here at Bright House Field. Threshers fans are some of the greatest minor league fans in the country."
The Clearwater Threshers have been playing their home games at Bright House Field since the 2004 opening of the ballpark. The Philadelphia Phillies also make the facility their Spring Training home.
