PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Aug. 16, 2018) - Walter Borkovich continued to dominate the Florida State League with six shutout innings against the St. Lucie Mets on Thursday night, as the Florida Fire Frogs wrapped up their four-game series at First Data Field with a 4-0 victory to earn the split.

Borkovich (1-0) blanked St. Lucie (22-30, 49-70) on five hits and four strikeouts. The Michigan State product has not allowed a run in 17 innings, and has not issued a walk through three starts at the Advanced-A level.
Florida (18-32, 47-69) grabbed the lead with an RBI single from Marcus Mooney (2x4, RBI) in the third inning, bringing home Jordan Rodgers (2x4, R, 2 RBI) for the 1-0 lead. The visitors added an insurance run in the fourth with CJ Alexander (1x5, R) at third, and a wild pitch to Greyson Jenista (0x3, BB).
The Fire Frogs took advantage of three walks by Blake Taylor (1-7) in the sixth to put up a crooked number with a two-spot to break the game open.
Riley Delgado (1x3, R, 2 BB), Braxton Davidson (1x3, R, BB) and Jenista drew the walks to load the bags for Rodgers, who delivered a two-run single to give the Atlanta Braves affiliate a four-run lead.
Sean Mclaughlin and Chase Johnson-Mullins tossed the final three innings to lock up the finale, and complete Florida's ninth shutout of 2018.
Florida continues the road trip with a visit to Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium to start a three-game weekend set against the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Friday night.
