JUPITER, Fla. (June 19, 2018) - Braxton Davidson continued to swing a hot bat in Tuesday night's 5-2 loss to the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The 22-year-old connected on a two-run shot in the sixth inning for his seventh blast in June to go along with 19 RBI.

The blast knotted the matchup at two apiece for the Florida Fire Frogs, but Jupiter (40-28) was able to counter in the bottom half of the frame against the combination of Tucker Davidson (4-5) and Connor Johnstone .
Eric Gutierrez and Joe Dunand started out the inning with back-to-back singles against Davidson, ending the night for Florida's (29-35) starting pitcher. Johnstone took over and set down Roy Morales on a sacrifice bunt, and punched out Riley Mahan to pull within an out of escaping damage, but an errant throw by Ray-Patrick Didder at short on a grounder off the bat of Justin Twine allowed both runners to score to put the Fire Frogs in a 4-2 deficit.
Tucker Davidson's four-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The southpaw allowed four runs - two earned - on seven hits, two walks and two strikeouts. The Amarillo, Texas native fired in a season-high, 99 pitches with 62 going for strikes.
The Hammerheads added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single by Twine, pushing across Dunand to place the visitors behind by three.
The Fire Frogs got a run back in the top of the ninth against Chad Smith (SV, 5). Didder (0x2, R, 2 BB) drew a one-out walk against the closer, and reached third base on two wild pitches to Alejandro Salazar (0x4). After Salazar struck out, Smith uncorked another wild pitch to Jordan Rodgers (0x4), allowing the runner to score.
Jorgan Cavanerio (3-0) earned his third win of the season for Jupiter with two innings of relief of Ethan Clark. The right-handed reliever surrendered the two-run home run to Braxton Davidson (1x2, R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB) for his lone blemish on the night.
Florida goes for the series victory on Wednesday night in the rubber match at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. RHP Ian Anderson (1-3, 3.57) takes the mound for the Fire Frogs against the Hammerheads' RHP Jordan Yamamoto (2-0, 2.18). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
