CLEARWATER, FL: Pitching stole the show on Tuesday evening at Spectrum Field. The Clearwater Threshers narrowly scratched across a run, escaping with a 1-0 win over the Florida Fire Frogs.

LHP Hayden Deal (1-1) was masterful, not allowing a single base runner until the sixth inning. He threw seven innings of one-run ball, working around four hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
Clearwater finally got to him in the home-half of the sixth. Colby Fitch drew a walk against Deal. After a fielder's choice hit into by Dalton Guthrie, Jose Gomez notched the first hit of the night for the Threshers, stroking a single into left. Nick Maton delivered an RBI double to right-center field, just out of the reach of Isranel Wilson that brought in Guthrie for the only run of the night.
RHP Spencer Howard recorded a career-best 11 strikeouts in his 5 and 2/3's frames for the Threshers, scattering four hits in the process. RHP Grant Dyer (1-1) picked up the win and only allowed one hit while getting four outs. LHP Jonathan Hennigan fanned four Fire Frogs in two innings and earned his third save of the season.
Leadoff man Riley Unroe was on the base paths three times for Florida, doubling in the first, singling in the second, and getting hit by a pitch in the eighth. Jefrey Ramos extended his hitting streak to five and his on-base streak to seven with his knock in the sixth.
NEXT UP: Florida will attempt to win its first rubber game of a series at Spectrum Field on Wednesday afternoon. RHP Tristan Beck (0-1, 7.82 ERA) goes for the Fire Frogs against Threshers LHP Damon Jones (0-1, 0.64 ERA). First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
