Fire Frogs Pinch Stone Crabs in Extras, 5-4

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA.: Drew Lugbauer's second of two run-scoring doubles tied the contest in the seventh and the Florida Fire Frogs went on to triumph in ten innings, 5-4, against the FSL South Division second-half champion Charlotte Stone Crabs on Monday evening at Charlotte Sports Park.

Charlotte dinged Florida and RHP Walter Borkovich for two first inning tallies. Jake Palomaki singled to start off the inning. He advanced to third on a Ronaldo Hernandez two-bagger. A passed ball during Kaleo Johnson's at-bat plated Palomaki. Moises Gomez then brought Hernandez in with a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 Stone Crabs edge.
Florida came back to tie it in the third at 2-2. Brett Langhorne walked, stole second, and moved to third on a Johnson throwing miscue that enabled Riley Delgado to reach. A wild pitch from LHP Christopher Sanchez sent in Langhorne. Lugbauer's first RBI double to center brought Delgado around.
Delgado swatted 2-4 with an RBI, a walk, and two runs scored to pick up his second straight multi-hit game and his third in the last four games.
Lugbauer slammed two doubles in five at-bats, advancing his total to 26 for the season which is tied for fifth in the Florida State League. He also drove in his 50th and 51st RBIs of the season.
Five consecutive singles from the Stone Crabs helped them regain the lead in the fourth. Palomaki and Zach Rutherford picked up RBIs with their knocks; 4-2 Charlotte after four.
Palomaki was 2-4 with an RBI and a run. Garrett Whitley had the other two-hit game for the Stone Crabs.
Borkovich yielded seven hits and three earned runs with three Ks across four innings of work while not factoring in the decision.
RHP Troy Bacon followed Borkovich by twirling two one-hit, scoreless stanzas. LHP Hayden Deal's first relief appearance was solid, giving up one hit and fanning three over two frames.
Sanchez also received a no-decision for Charlotte, surrendering six hits, two runs, two walks, and racking up five punch outs.
 A free pass issued to Langhorne by RHP Cristofer Ogando and a stolen base put him in scoring position in the seventh. After a balk, Delgado's infield single sent him scampering to the dish. A throwing error for Ogando put Delgado at second and he would come home on Lugbauer's double to tie the contest at 4-4.
Ogando blew his first save try and allowed two runs across six outs. RHP Trey Cumbie kept the Fire Frogs off the board in the eighth and ninth.
With Lugbauer the placed runner at second in the tenth, he was pushed to third on a groundout from Ramos. Kevin Josephina delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly opposite RHP Simon Rosenblum-Larson (2-3) for a 5-4 Florida advantage.
RHP Sean McLaughlin (3-5) retired six straight hitters in the ninth and tenth, working around the placed runner in extra innings to grab the victory.
Kevin Josephina recorded his 21st multi-hit game by going 2-4. Zack Soria's first game with multiple hits this season was particularly impressive. He led the team with three hits.
