KISSIMMEE, Fla. (June 24, 2018) - The Florida Fire Frogs took another early lead against the Daytona Tortugas on Sunday morning, but could not come away with a victory in a 6-1 loss at Osceola County Stadium to wrap up the opening series of the second half. The Fire Frogs dropped three of the four contests against the Tortugas, and are now 5-11-5 in series play in 2018.

Ray-Patrick Didder (1x3, RBI, BB) struck an RBI single in the second inning to push home Jared James (1x3, R, BB) for the 1-0 advantage, but Florida (1-3, 30-40) could not scratch across any more runs in the frame after leaving runners at second and third.
The Fire Frogs had an opportunity to add on with the bases loaded and two outs in the third, but left the maximum when Kurt Hoekstra (1x4) grounded out to third to end the threat against Tommy Bergjans (1-0).
Tucker Davidson (4-6) rolled through the first three innings before hitting a wall in the fourth. The left-hander gave u pa leadoff single to Bruce Yari to start the inning, before retiring Tyler Stephenson on a fly ball to right.
Four consecutive men reached after the first out was recorded, leading to an RBI single by Mitch Nay, and a bases-loaded walk by Daniel Sweet to give Daytona (3-1, 40-30) the 2-1 edge.
Davidson needed 38 pitches to get through the fourth inning, and finished the day with 92. The Amarillo, Texas native allowed two runs on seven hits, a walk and four strikeouts through his five innings of work in the loss.
The Tortugas broke the game open with four runs against the Fire Frogs' bullpen in the latter frames. The visitors plated three against Justin Kelly in the seventh, and one off of Mauricio Cabrera in the eighth.
Florida will take part in a league-wide off day on Monday, before returning to action on Tuesday for game one of a three-game set against the Dunedin Blue Jays at Osceola County Stadium to continue the 10-game homestand. RHP Ian Anderson (1-4, 3.51) takes the mound in the opener for the Fire Frogs, while it has yet to be determined who will counter the 20-year-old for the Blue Jays. First pitch is scheduled for 6:31 p.m., with coverage starting at 6:15 p.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pre-game Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
