Miracle drop to 3-13 on road after comeback effort falls short

DUNEDIN, Fla. - Travis Blankenhorn blasted his sixth home run, but the Dunedin Blue Jays held off the Fort Myers Miracle, 4-3, on Friday night at Dunedin Stadium.
Blankenhorn's homer, a solo shot, came with two out in the top of the first. The Blue Jays answered right away in the bottom half on a two-out RBI double by Bradley Jones.
It remained 1-1 until the fourth inning, when Dunedin scored three runs to take the lead for good. Kacy Clemens hit his first home run with Blue Jays. Ivan Castillo added an RBI double and Rodrigo Orozco delivered an RBI single.
Blankenhorn came through with an RBI single in the fifth for the Miracle. Fort Myers pulled within a run in the sixth on an RBI ground out by Nelson Molina, but left a pair of runners in scoring position.
Patrick Murphy (2-2) earned the win for the Blue Jays. He started and went 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out seven. Miracle starter Brady Anderson (0-4) suffered the loss. He allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings. Nick Hartman picked up his first save with a perfect ninth inning.
Hector Lujan (two innings) and Tom Hackimer (one) each had scoreless appearances out of the Miracle bullpen. Travis Bergen tossed 2.2 perfect innings in relief for Dunedin, striking out three.
Jimmy Kerrigan had two hits, including a double, for the Miracle. He is 4-for-7 in the first two games of the series. The three-game series concludes on Saturday night in Dunedin. Right-hander Trevor May will start for Fort Myers on a MLB rehab assignment. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
