FORT MYERS, Fla. - Yeltsin Encarnacion crushed a seventh inning home run to break a 1-1 tie, as the Miracle slipped past the St. Lucie Mets, 2-1, on Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium.
Encarnacion's blast, a 400 foot bomb to right-center, was the shortstop's first High-A home run.
Jacob Pearson gave the Miracle a 1-0 lead with a third inning home run. The blast was the Miracle outfielder's first of the year.
The Mets tied the game in the top of the fourth but wasted a golden opportunity for more after loading the bases with nobody out. Manny Rodriguez bounced into a double play which scored a run, before Nick Meyer struck out swinging to end the threat.
The game remained 1-1 until Encarnacion's mammoth blast in the seventh.
Tyler Watson allowed just one run on six hits in six innings. The left-hander walked two and struck out six.
Johan Quezada (6-1) earned the win in relief. He tossed 1.1 scoreless innings.
Moises Gomez collected his fourth save after retiring all five batters he faced. He struck out the side in the ninth.
The Miracle go for the series win on Thursday night in Fort Myers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
