JUPITER, Fla. (August 10, 2022) – The Jupiter Hammerheads connected on three homers Wednesday, leveling the series with the Mighty Mussels with a 9-5 win at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

Fort Myers (56-44, 15-21) had three separate leads in the ball game but couldn’t hold any of them. The Mussels got out in front on a Keoni Cavaco sacrifice fly in the first before a Yiddi Cappe inside-the-park home run tied things at 1-1 after three.

In the top of the fourth, the Mussels took advantage of an error, three walks and three wild pitches to take a 4-1 lead.

Once again, Jupiter came right back. In the bottom of the fifth, Carlos Santiago and Jake Thompson both singled with nobody out against Mussels starter Jordan Carr. Then next batter was Chase Luttrell, who crushed a three-run bomb to right to tie the game 4-4. It was Luttrell’s first professional home run.

In a tie game in the top of the sixth, Tanner Schobel and Noah Cardenas both singled with two outs. The next batter was Cavaco, who dropped an RBI double to center to give the Mussels a 5-4 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Brady Allen singled ahead of Torin Montgomery, who clobbered a long two-run homer to left to put the Hammerheads up for good.

Schobel and Cardenas both reached base at least three times, with Cardenas drawing three walks in defeat. Carlos Aguiar had two hits.

The Mussels will look to bounce back at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. RHP Johnathan Lavallee (0-0, 2.45) is scheduled to start for Fort Myers, opposed by LHP Justin Fall (5-5, 3.84) of Jupiter. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network.
