April 20, 2020

Mighty Mussels Fans, We hope you are reading this from the comfort of your home; safe, healthy and, if possible, together with your loved ones. Please know that you are all part of our extended Mighty Mussels Family – now and always. These are tumultuous times as, together, we navigate

Mighty Mussels Fans,

We hope you are reading this from the comfort of your home; safe, healthy and, if possible, together with your loved ones. Please know that you are all part of our extended Mighty Mussels Family – now and always.

These are tumultuous times as, together, we navigate uncharted waters. As we all know, the start of the 2020 Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball season is on hold, in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is absolutely the correct course of action and one the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels unequivocally support, as the health, safety and well-being of our fans, partners, players, staff, employees and communities is of the utmost importance.

Now more than ever, we at the Mighty Mussels greatly look forward to the day when we can all once again come together at Hammond Stadium, united in our celebration of the game we love.

To that end, we continue to work in collaboration with Minor League Baseball and the Florida State League on contingency plans related to the 2020 schedule, with the hope and goal to play as many games as possible when baseball resumes.

This remains a fluid situation for the industry, one which we know has created questions around tickets purchased, games and the overall schedule; we will continue to answer these and provide additional information when available. Please find preliminary answers to some of those questions below and know that we are committed to providing the same level of service and hospitality that you have become accustomed to expect.

These are the same pillars that will guide us through this crisis and on to a better tomorrow. We are dedicated to using our platform and our voice to support and serve our communities and will continue to actively develop programs to assist beyond Hammond Stadium when possible.

Baseball brings communities together and makes them stronger. There will come a time when sports – and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels – will play a huge role in helping our region and nation heal.

In the interim, we are still with you, and will be engaging with you in safe, meaningful and new ways.

Thank you for your patience and support. Please continue to take care of yourselves, your families and others; remember, we can all do our part.

Together, we will persevere.

FAQs

The start of the 2020 Minor League Baseball season is on hold, in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is the correct course of action and one the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels unequivocally support, as the health, safety and well-being of our fans, partners, players, staff, employees and communities is of the utmost importance.

The Mighty Mussels and Florida State League are actively working on ticket policies for the games affected by this delay, and will continue to communicate information as available. The club also continues to work in close collaboration with Minor League Baseball, the Florida Department of Health and national public health officials to monitor this evolving situation.

When will the 2020 season start?
Due to Minor League Baseball’s decision to delay the season due to COVID-19, there is no official start date for the regular season at this time. The Mighty Mussels will continue to work with MiLB to evaluate ongoing events leading up to any potential new start date for the 2020 season.

How will the schedule be adjusted for the 2020 season?
Minor League Baseball is developing several contingency plans for the 2020 season and the 70-game home schedule at Hammond Stadium, with the hope and goal to play as many games as possible when baseball resumes. The situation is fluid; MiLB and the Mighty Mussels will announce plans when appropriate.

Will there be attendance restrictions when games resume?
We do not currently know. When the baseball season resumes, the safety of our community will remain our number one priority. We will continue to follow the guidance of the Center For Disease Control, the State of Florida, and Major and Minor League Baseball to ensure the safety of our fans.

Is Hammond Stadium prepared to provide a clean and healthy environment for fans?
Hammond Stadium has always provided a safe, clean, and healthy environment for fans during all games and events. We will be taking all precautions and implementing advanced safety protocols as recommended by the CDC and local health authorities. We continue to make the health of fans our top priority and will ensure that every possible measure will be taken to ensure the future health of guests at Hammond Stadium.
