PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (July 14, 2017) - Ryan Boldt's walk-off home run snapped an 8-game win streak for the Fort Myers Miracle (15-5) and kept the Charlotte Stone Crabs (9-10) from being swept on Friday night in a 4-3 Miracle loss.
RHP Eduar Lopez struggled early against the Miracle hitters. Tanner English doubled on the first pitch of the game. Two batters later he was brought in by Jermaine Palacios on a sacrifice fly. Mitchell Kranson then launched a solo home run to right, his second of the year, to give Fort Myers a 2-0 lead.
Two innings later, Sean Miller boomed his first Florida State League home run, a solo shot to left to make it 3-0. It was Miller's first home run in the league in 333 at-bats which prompted the silent treatment upon return to the dugout. Lopez would not allow a run after that, going six innings and striking out a season-high seven batters.
In the bottom of the fourth against starter RHP David Fischer, Brett Sullivan stood at the plate with a pair of runners on base. He tied the game at three with a three-run tater to right, and the game would stay tied until the end.
Both bullpens settled down the opposition. The Miracle managed just one hit after the third inning and were set down in order in the ninth by LHP Dalton Moats (W, 5-0). After RHP Williams Ramirez and LHP Michael Theofanopoulos tossed two scoreless frames each for Fort Myers, RHP Alex Muren (L, 0-2) came in for the ninth. Boldt, the first batter of the ninth, sent a second pitch changeup out of the yard to right, giving Charlotte the 4-3 win.
Fort Myers heads home for a three-game set with the St. Lucie Mets. RHP Cody Stashak battles RHP Nabil Crismatt on Saturday night at 6:05 PM ET.
