COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. - The TinCaps lost to the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers) on Wednesday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark, 2-1.

Center fielder Robbie Podorsky , third baseman Luis Almanzar , shortstop Justin Lopez , and catcher Jalen Washington each provided two hits for Fort Wayne, which out-hit West Michigan, 9-8.
On the mound, left-handed starter Aaron Leasher had a quality start, allowing only one earned run in six innings. Righty reliever Caleb Boushley pitched two scoreless innings.
The Whitecaps (26-19) played small-ball in the first to get on the board. With an infield single, a hit-and-run single, a sac bunt, and a sac fly, the home team took a 1-0 lead.
Fort Wayne (20-25) tied the game, 1-1, in the third. With Washington at third and second baseman Esteury Ruiz at first, Podorsky pulled a double to the left-field corner. Washington scored easily and it appeared as though Ruiz had scored as well, but he was called out at the plate.
The game remained level into the home sixth. West Michigan scored an unearned run with two outs, as the ninth-placed hitter, Garrett McCain, knocked a two-out RBI single with runners at the corners.
The TinCaps went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position. West Michigan was 1-for-10 in such situations. Both teams left 10 on base.
