LILLINGTON, N.C.- The Buies Creek Astros (16-7) scored eight times in the first four innings on the way to a 9-4 victory over the Frederick Keys (7-16) on Saturday night at Nymeo Field. The loss dropped the Keys losing streak on the road to nine.

In the first, Chas McCormick singled and scored on a Josh Rojas double. They Astros would add four more runs off of Keys starter Ofelky Peralta in the third. Anibal Sierra and McCormick hit back-to-back singles, and Rojas walked to load the bases. Chris Clare then made an error on a slow roller to allow two to score. Two more were plated when Kristian Trompiz singled, making it 5-0 Buies Creek.

In the fourth, three more Astros came in to score. Carlos Canelon walked, and Sierra was hit by a pitch. Rojas then singled in Canelon, and Abraham Toro hit a two-run double.

The Keys got on the board in the fifth. Preston Palmeiro singled, and Randolph Gassaway walked. Following a wild pitch, Ryan McKenna legged out an infield single to score Palmeiro. Cole Billingsley then hit a double to left field that scored Palmeiro and Gassaway, making the score 8-3.

Frederick scored one more time in the seventh. After back-to-back singles from Gassaway and McKenna, Billingsley moved both runners over on a fielder's choice. Jomar Reyes brought in Gassaway with a groundout, which narrowed the deficit to four.

The Astros would get that run back in the bottom of the frame. After a walk to Troy Sieber, Trompiz tripled, which would end the scoring for both teams.

In the ninth, the Keys loaded the bases with one out thanks to three straight walks. The threat would end, though, when Reyes grounded into a double play.

Peralta (1-2) took the loss for the orange and black. Tossing 3.1 innings, the right-hander allowed eight runs (five earned) on six hits. He walked two and struck out two. In a relief effort, Abdiel Saldana (3-0) earned the victory despite allowing his first four runs of the year. He gave up seven hits in the process.

The Keys and Astros conclude their series on Sunday night. Jhon Peluffo (1-0, 6.14) makes the start for the Keys. He will be opposed right-hander Brandon Bielak (3-1, 0.98) for Buies Creek. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., and the game can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn Radio App.
