WILMINGTON, DE-The Wilmington Blue Rocks scored two runs in each of their last four trips to bat to defeat the Frederick Keys 8-5 on Friday night at Frawley Stadium. In the contest, the Keys walked eight batters and committed three errors.

Ryan McKenna doubled home two runs in the third, before the Blue Rocks (13-14) cracked the scoreboard in the fifth. Chase Vallot and Angelo Castellano walked to bring up Kort Peterson. The Wilmington leadoff man bunted to Ofelky Peralta , but the Keys pitcher threw wild into leftfield to score Vallot.

Trailing by one, Wilmington then got a double by D.J. Burt to bring home the tying run. A third run nearly scored, but a good relay throw and a barricade of the plate by Yojhan Quevedo led to Peterson being tagged out.

The Keys (10-18) countered with a triple from Preston Palmeiro , an RBI groundout by Randolph Gassaway and a solo home run by Jomar Reyes to retake the lead, but it did not last long. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Peralta surrendered a single and a walk before being lifted with 96 pitches thrown. Tyler Erwin took over and walked three straight men to force in two runs before a strikeout ended the inning.

With the game level at four, Wilmington went ahead for good in the seventh. Emmanuel Rivera hit a home run on the first pitch he saw off Francisco Jimenez , while a single, a wild pitch and a throwing error by Quevedo brought the second man home.

Frederick pulled within one in the eighth against Blue Rocks reliever Carter Hope, but Wilmington added two more a half inning later on an error and a double play.

Hope (1-0) tossed two innings in relief and allowed one unearned run to pick up the win. Jimenez (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs (two earned) on six hits in 1.2 stanzas. Matt Wynne tossed a clean ninth to garner his third save.

The Keys and Blue Rocks play the middle game of their series on Saturday night. Right-hander Jhon Peluffo (2-0, 3.29) starts for Frederick against Wilmington right-hander Anthony Bender (1-0, 3.79). First pitch is at 6:05 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on and the TuneIn Radio App.
