The El Paso Chihuahuas (26-25) beat the Fresno Grizzlies (29-22) 2-0 Sunday afternoon from Chukchansi Park. Five El Paso pitchers combined for the six-hit shutout. Starter Chris Huffman tossed four innings, scattering four hits, walking four and striking out a pair. Eric Yardley (2-0) earned the win after two and one-third frames of relief. The Chihuahuas mustered three double plays (two with the bases-loaded) en route to the victory.
Luis Urías gave El Paso a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when he destroyed a pitch to left. It was his fifth homer of the season and 18th RBI. The advantage extended to 2-0 in the top of the second when Carlos Asuaje crossed the plate on a triple to left-center by Allen Craig.
The two-runs were enough for José Castillo, who picked up his third save of the year.
Fresno starter Trent Thornton (3-3) suffered the defeat after six innings of work. He allowed three hits, two runs (earned), walking two and punching out eight. Thornton didn't give up a hit in his final four frames.
