Oklahoma City (Monday, June 10) - In his first start after re-joining the Fresno Grizzlies (32-32) from Double-A Harrisburg, first baseman José Marmolejos drove in four of Fresno's five runs Monday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, in a 6-5 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (24-39). Marmolejos equaled a season-high in RBI (April 26 at Reno), by socking a three-run dinger to open the game's scoring in the fifth inning (sixth Triple-A homer of 2019), and a RBI single in the seventh.
Trailing 3-0 in the home half of the fifth, Shane Peterson's bases-loaded, three-run triple was the biggest blow in Oklahoma City's comeback, anchoring a nine-batter, six-run inning, the only frame OKC would score in.
In the ninth, Carter Kieboom would score after a one-out triple into the left field gap, sprinting home shortly thereafter on a wild pitch. The Grizzlies loaded the bases before Kevin Quackenbush entered out of the Dodger bullpen to strikeout the only batter he faced, salvaging the series for OKC.
Wilmer Difo stole another base on Monday for Fresno, allowing him to score from second after a walk on Marmolejos' RBI knock in the seventh. After three steals on Sunday, Difo swiped six bases during the series. Difo (double) and Kieboom (walk) each scored on the Marmolejos home run.
Top Performers: Fresno Grizzlies (Washington Nationals)
• 1B Jose Marmolejos (2-5, HR, 4 RBI)
• SS Wilmer Difo (2-4, 2B, 2 R, BB)
• 2B Carter Kieboom (1-3, 3B, 2 R, BB)
Top Performers: Oklahoma City Dodgers (Los Angeles Dodgers)
• RF Shane Peterson (1-4, 3B, 3 RBI, R)
• 2B Jake Peter (2-3, 2B, R, BB)
• LF Zach Reks (1-4, 2 RBI, R, BB)
ON THAT FRES-NOTE: Despite Monday's setback, between affiliations with the Houston Astros (10-6) and Washington Nationals (3-1), Fresno is 13-7 against the Triple-A Dodgers since they took up in Oklahoma City for the 2015 season. Monday's result cost the Grizzlies what would have been their third-ever four-game sweep of Oklahoma City; Fresno swept a Texas Rangers-affiliated club in 2010 on the road, and took all four from the OKC Dodgers at Chukchansi Park in 2016.
