West Sacramento, Calif. (Friday, July 12) - The Fresno Grizzlies (47-45) won their first contest after the All Star Break, beating the Sacramento River Cats (47-44) 11-6 from Raley Field. Fresno improved to 29-9 in Sacramento since the beginning of the 2015 season (4-2 in 2019). With the victory, the Grizzlies are a half game back of the River Cats for first place in the Pacific Northern Division standings.
Fresno's offense roared for 15 hits with every starter picking up at least one knock. Yadiel Hernandez led the charge with four hits (three doubles) and four runs. Raudy Read and José Marmolejos each collected three hits as well. Read finished the contest a single shy of the cycle, driving in five. Marmolejos and Brandon Snyder delivered back-to-back bombs in the second inning, the third time this year that a Grizzlies duo has mustered that feat. Snyder evened Hernandez for the club-high in dingers with 19.
Both Levi Michael and Henry Ramos enjoyed clouts for Sacramento with the pair tallying half of the RBI in the loss. Michael smacked his eighth big fly of the season while Ramos raked his 12th longball. Fresno righty Logan Ondrusek (4-3) relished the decision after five and one-third solid frames of work. He punched out a season-best eight batters. River Cats starter Yoanys Quiala (4-5) suffered the defeat.
