Crouse strong, Riders fall to Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (July 9, 2021) – The Frisco RoughRiders were doubled up by the Arkansas Travelers 4-2 on Friday night from Dickey-Stephens Park.

RoughRiders (37-21) starter Hans Crouse (1-2) took the loss despite striking out five over his five innings, allowing three runs, two earned,on three hits.

His offense backed him early when Jordan Procyshen hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring Steele Walker, giving the Riders a 1-0 lead.

Arkansas (30-27) struck back in the fourth with a pair of runs to take the lead, with an RBI groundout from Brian O'Keefe and a run scoring on a throwing error.

Bobby Honeyman then laced an RBI single in the fifth to add on to the Arkansas advantage, making it 3-1.

Frisco's J.P. Martinez made it a one-run game with an RBI single in the seventh, but O'Keefe answered back with an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI triple for the Travelers, vaulting them back up 4-2.

Penn Murphy (5-2) took the win for the Travelers, going five innings, ceding just one run, while Darin Gillies earned his 10th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

The RoughRiders continue their six-game set with the Travelers on Saturday, July 10th at 6:10 p.m. RHP Yerry Rodriguez (0-1, 3.23) goes for Frisco while RHP Devin Sweet (2-4, 6.02) starts for Arkansas.
