Bradford 11 strikeouts in shutout win

FRISCO, Texas (June 17, 2022) – The Frisco RoughRiders posted their fourth shutout victory of the season on Friday night with a 1-0 win over the Midland RockHounds at Riders Field. Frisco starter Cody Bradford tallied a season-high 11 punch outs in the win, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings. Box score

FRISCO, Texas (June 17, 2022) – The Frisco RoughRiders posted their fourth shutout victory of the season on Friday night with a 1-0 win over the Midland RockHounds at Riders Field. Frisco starter Cody Bradford tallied a season-high 11 punch outs in the win, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings.

In the month of June, Bradford (5-3) has surrendered one earned run in 15 innings on four walks and 21 strikeouts.

Trey Hair slugged his 12th home run in the bottom of the second inning to tie Blaine Crim for most homers by any RoughRiders (31-30) hitter this season.

Friday's action delivered a pitcher’s duel, as Midland (28-33) starter Jeff Criswell (0-1) made his Double-A debut with one run on eight hits in six innings, striking out five and walking two batters.

Three hits from Frisco right fielder Kellen Strahm tied his season-best on May 28th against San Antonio. Shortstop Jonathan Ornelas also finished with three hits, his 13th time this season doing so.

The RoughRiders’ 1-0 win is their lowest-scoring win this season and their first since a 1-0 win in Corpus Christi on June 17th, 2021.

Riders reliever Triston Polley made his Double-A debut with 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Reliever Joe Corbett delivered the final two outs in the eighth inning with a strikeout, and Nick Starr locked down the 1-0 with a strikeout in the ninth for his third save of the year.

Tied at two games apiece, Frisco and Midland continue the six-game series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. at Riders Field. RHP Jack Leiter (2-5, 5.75 ERA) takes the hill for his 11th start of the season and will be opposed by Midland RHP Matt Milburn (3-4, 6.31 ERA) with postgame fireworks scheduled on another Sky-Lit Saturday.

The RoughRiders will also take the field on Father’s Day on Sunday donning the name of the Dallas Black Giants, commemorating Juneteenth with president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum Bob Kendrick in attendance. Fans can arrive early on Sunday for a Dallas Black Giants hat giveaway!
