FRISCO, Texas (June 19, 2022) – The Frisco RoughRiders took Riders Field Sunday evening as the Dallas Black Giants to commemorate Juneteenth on their way to defeat the Midland RockHounds, 5-3. Box score

Major-Leaguer and Frisco designated hitter Mitch Garver rehabbed with the Riders on Sunday with a double and an RBI single in the first two innings at the plate.

RockHounds shortstop Logan Davidson knocked a solo home run as the lead off batter in Sunday’s game off Frisco starter Tim Brennan, who didn’t allow a run in his three following innings. Frisco’s Justin Slaten (1-4) relieved Brennan with six strikeouts in three scoreless innings.

The Riders hopped on Midland starter David Leal (0-3) with a run across on four hits, including a pair of doubles from Garver and first baseman Blaine Crim to tie Sunday’s game, 1-1.

Frisco brought nine batters to the plate to begin the second inning with the first seven to reach base safely. With the bases loaded, Jordan Procyshen broke the 1-1 tie with an RBI ground out to score Sandro Fabian from third. Jonathan Ornelas singled in another run and Justin Foscue roped a double into the left field corner to score Procyshen to give the Riders a 4-1 lead. As the eighth batter to the plate in the inning, Garver ended the scoring by driving in Ornelas and pushing the score to 5-1.

Riders pitcher Grant Anderson surrendered a two-run homer to Midland’s Jordan Diaz in the top of the eighth to narrow Frisco’s lead to 5-3. Right-hander Fer Ozuna shut down the Hounds with a pair of punch outs in the ninth for his sixth save of the season.

Following Monday’s off day, the RoughRiders close the first half of the season with six games against the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park, beginning Tuesday, June 21st with a 6:35 p.m. start time.

The Riders return to Frisco to conclude the month of June and usher in July with a six game series against the Corpus Christi Hooks on June 28th. For tickets and more information about the Frisco RoughRiders, visit RidersBaseball.com or call 972.731.9200.
