Riders fall in second game with Northwest Arkansas  

In 7-4 defeat, Riders plate three of four runs in second inning

FRISCO, Texas (June 9, 2021) – The Frisco RoughRiders dropped the second game of the six-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 7-4 on Wednesday night from Riders Field.

The Riders (18-13) provided some early offense as Jordan Procyshen delivered an RBI double in the second inning, scoring Sherten Apostel, trimming the deficit to 2-1.

A wild pitch in the same inning allowed Josh Stowers to cross the plate before a Bubba Thompson RBI single to left field, plating Procyshen, vaulting Frisco to a 3-2 lead.

The Naturals (15-14) then plated four runs in their half of the third inning regaining the lead 6-3.

In the fifth, J.P. Martinez scored on a throwing error by the catcher, M.J. Melendez, when a back-pick throw to second hit off of Martinez’s leg and glanced into shallow right.

Dennicher Carrasco homered in the eighth inning to score the final run for Northwest Arkansas as the 7-4 advantage stood through the late innings.

Jon Heasley (2-0) earned the win for the Naturals, turning in five innings while allowing three earned runs and striking out six. Dylan Coleman recorded his third save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Sal Mendez (3-1)took the loss, ceding six earned runs over his three innings with four strikeouts.

The Riders and Naturals are back in action at Riders Field on Thursday, June 10th at 7:05 pm. Frisco will turn to RHP Hans Crouse (0-1, 2.00) while the Naturals have yet to announce a starter.
