FRISCO, Texas (MAY 12, 2021) – The Frisco RoughRiders used four pitchers to clamp the Corpus Christi Hooks in a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday night from Riders Field, winning game one 3-1 and game two 2-1.

Jake Latz (1-0) dominated the day's opener, throwing five innings of one-hit baseball while striking out six and walking just one for the Riders (6-2). Noah Bremer followed him, allowing a run over two innings to earn his first save of the season.

Offensively, all the Riders needed was three tallies. Steele Walker plated the game's first run in the first inning with a fielder's choice, scoring Bubba Thompson.

In the fourth, Frisco added two more on an RBI single from Thompson and a bases-loaded walk from J.P. Martinez, increasing the lead to 3-0.

The Hooks (2-6) fired back in the top of the sixth when Marty Costes laced an RBI single up the middle to make it 3-1, but they could get no closer. J.P. France (1-1) took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) over his 3.2-inning start.

In game two, Frisco's Tyler Phillips (1-0) picked up right where the game one pitchers left off, allowing only a solo home run to J.J. Matijevic in the first. Phillips finished with five innings, allowing just the run on two hits while striking out seven and not walking a batter.

The Riders scored their only runs in the second, tying the game at 1-1 on an infield RBI single from Jax Biggers. With Diosbel Arias at third and two outs in the frame, Biggers was picked off and caught in a rundown, but as he was chased back to first, Arias was able to score from third before Biggers was tagged out. That plated the go-ahead run to make it 2-1.

Corpus Christi's Jonathan Bermudez (1-1) was handed the loss in game two despite allowing just two runs over his five innings, in which he struck out 10.

The RoughRiders are back in action on Thursday, May 13th against Corpus Christi for game three of the six-game series. It's Thirsty Thursday with $2 domestic and $3 craft drafts from 6-8 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit RidersBaseball.com or call 972.334.1993.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 15 seasons (2005-2019). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. Since then, the new ownership group, together with the City of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise enhancements, investing over $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, InTouch Grille, Riders Outpost Team Store and the world's largest water feature in a sports facility, the massive Lazy River. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest's prestigious "Best Ballpark Renovation" award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). More than 160 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball, including current Rangers players Jose Trevino, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Joey Gallo.
