FRISCO, Texas (May 15, 2022) – The Frisco RoughRiders ended their six-game series against the Tulsa Drillers with an 18-4 win at ONEOK Field, tallying their most runs in a game since 2011 and their largest margin of victory in franchise history. Behind a record-tying eight team home runs, Trey Hair slugged three and Ezequiel Duran recorded two. Both Duran and Hair finished the game with 12 total bases and were responsible for scoring ten of the 18 runs scored.
Eight home runs on Sunday ties the franchise record for most home runs in a game by any Frisco (19-14) squad, equaling the RoughRiders total from July 22nd, 2011 when Frisco defeated Corpus Christi, 19-4.
Hair became just the second Riders batter to knock three home runs in a game in franchise history, and the first since Chris McGuiness on June 22nd, 2012.
Frisco left-hander Cole Ragans (3-1) struck out five batters in five innings, giving up three earned runs in his Sunday start. Riders relievers Tai Tiedemann, Lucas Jacobsen and Fer Ozuna combined for five strikeouts in the final four frames against the Drillers (19-13), giving up no walks or hits.
Duran knocked his first home run of the game to start Sunday’s scoring in the top of the first off Jose Martinez (1-1), giving Frisco an early 3-0 lead. The Drillers responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning with two runs on one hit, cutting the Riders’ lead to 3-2.
Leading off the top of the second, Hair stretched the Riders lead back to two with his second home run of the year to make it a 4-2 Frisco lead. The busy inning came in the top of the third, beginning with a Duran double and back-to-back RBI singles from Dustin Harris and Josh Stowers to make it a 6-2 lead. Hair clubbed his second homer of the game in the following at-bat, scoring Harris and Stowers to balloon the lead to 9-2.
On the first pitch of the bottom of the third inning, Michael Busch homered to cut Frisco’s lead to 9-3. Duran doubled for the second time in Sunday’s game with one out in the fourth inning and came in to score on a Harris RBI groundout.
The RoughRiders homered twice in the top of the sixth, first by Jonathan Ornelas leading the inning off with his fourth homer of the season. Two batters later, Duran homered for the second time of the game and improved his batting line to 4-for-4 with a solo blast to give Frisco a 12-3 lead.
Ragans entered for the sixth inning but departed following a first-pitch homer to Tulsa’s Ryan Ward to change Sunday’s score to 12-4. Entering as the first Frisco reliever of Sunday’s game, Tiedemann retired the Drillers in order to end the sixth. Hair’s third home run came in the top of the seventh on newly-inserted Guillermo Zuniga to give Frisco a 13-4 lead.
Jordan Procyshen hit his second home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning, giving Frisco a 14-4 lead. Procyshen’s seventh-inning homer was his second career home run at ONEOK Field, with his first coming on July 6th, 2019, when he previously played for the Drillers in the Dodgers organization.
Duran walked in the eighth inning and was followed by Harris homering for the eighth and final team home run of Sunday’s game, making the score 16-4. Not finished, Frisco scored two more in the ninth inning to end with their largest margin of victory in franchise history of 14.
