August Deemed "STARION ENERGY Fight Cancer Month" at the Ballpark

NEW BRITAIN, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats have teamed up with Starion Energy during the month of August to support cancer patients and to invite the Rock Cats' community of fans and followers to participate.

Starion Energy, a licensed electricity supplier, helps Connecticut residents take advantage of the state's electricity deregulation by choosing their own electricity supplier and lowering their electricity rates. The company has been providing Rock Cats fans with savings on their electric bills all year, but will be helping more than the fans' wallets in the final month of the season.

Every fan who selects Starion as their electricity supplier during the month of August will earn a donation to the Connecticut Sports Foundation.  The Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer provides grants for living expenses and medical care to struggling cancer patients.  Not only will fans be able to lower their electric bill, but will also be helping those families struggling with medical expenses acquired from their battles with cancer.  Enrolling with Starion is a free, no-obligation, no-hassle process.

In addition, all who enroll - either at a Rock Cats game or online - will receive a complimentary ticket to the Rock Cats September 4th home game, as well as a limited edition Rock Cats baseball cap.

Rock Cats General Manager and Vice President, John Willi added: "The ability for Rock Cats fans to lower their electric bills at home is a no-brainer, and an opportunity I took advantage myself.  To be able to help someone in need while doing so is even more extraordinary.  I applaud Starion for their commitment to the community, and encourage every Rock Cats employee, fan, and partner to join the effort."

Fans have until August 31st, 2010 to enroll to be eligible for the September 4th ticket and complimentary cap.
