The Grand Junction Rockies scored four runs in the ninth and beat the Helena Brewers 6-3 Friday night at Suplizio Field ending a five-game losing skid.

The big ninth inning came with the game tied at two as the Rockies saw six straight men reach base starting with a Pedro Gonzalez one-out walk. Ryan Vilade followed that with a single and Chad Spanberger gave the Rockies the lead with an RBI single. Vialde scored when Casey Golden Singled him home and Spanberger crossed home plate when Ramon Marcelino struck out thanks to a passed ball. Todd Czinege's RBI single capped the inning.

The win improves the Rockies to 1-3 in the second and 19-23 overall as Tommy Doyle earned the first win of his career tossing two innings out of the bullpen surrendering one run.

Nic Motley's second home run of the season gave the Rockies a 1-0 lead in the third and they added to the lead in the sixth thanks to five straight walks. Helena scored twice in the seventh to tie the game off Michael Agis who followed Colton Hathcock and Logan Longwith on the mound for the Rockies.

Hathcock kept the Brewers off the board in the sixth while Longwith scattered five hits over five shutout innings.

Nobody in the Rockies lineup had more than one hit, though thanks to a pair of walks, Shael Mendoza reached three times.
