A pair of homers in the bottom of the eighth and three-up, three-down in the top of the ninth was enough for Grand Junction to secure a 7-6 win over Ogden Monday afternoon. Tommy Doyle was credited with the win moving to 3-2 on the season. Over two innings of work, he allowed two hits and one run with a strikeout. Jefry Valdez picked up his ninth save of the season after one inning of work allowing no hits and striking out three. The teams will face off tomorrow in the last home game of the regular season. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m. and Colorado Mesa University students can bring their Mav Cards to receive one free ticket.

Grand Junction started things off by putting runs on the board in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Casey Golden singled before Chad Spanberger doubled. A Raptors throwing error allowed Golden to score and move Spanberger to third. He came home on a single from Todd Czinege before a ground out ended the inning. The Rockies added a run in the second before Ogden plated three in the top of the third to even the score at three.

The Raptors took the lead in the top of the fifth scoring two runs but the Rockies answered back. Joey Bartosic hopped aboard with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch. Golden then hit his 19th home run of the season to plate the pair and tie the game at five. Ogden once again pulled ahead with a run in the seventh setting the stage for Spanberger and Czinege who hit back-to-back solo home runs to put the Rockies ahead 7-6.

That would be enough as Valdez came in to strike out Brock Carpenter, induce a fly out from Connor Heady, and strike out pinch hitter Luis Paz to earn his ninth save of the season, the second-best save record in the Pioneer League this season.
