MIDLAND, Mich., July 21, 2019 -- The Great Lakes Loons and Corteva Agriscience find common ground as organizations dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive gathering place for all fans regardless of age, gender, physical ability, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation gender identity or gender expression, military status, and national origin.
The Loons will host Inclusion Day at Dow Diamond on Sunday, July 21 during their game against the Burlington Bees, beginning at 2:05 p.m. Corteva Agriscience PRIDE-Michigan (Corteva's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally Resource Group) is proud to sponsor this inaugural event with the Loons.
Dave Midkiff, Corteva Agriscience Michigan Site Director, will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Loons facing the Burlington Bees.
Inclusion Day encourages groups and individuals to rally behind the common theme that everyone is welcome at the ballpark to enjoy America's pastime. This event will feature two Michigan Miracle League teams that will join the Loons on the field after the game, providing special needs children and adults the opportunity to participate.
Inclusion Day also serves as outreach to our community business partners and non-profit organizations who support inclusion activities within the Great Lakes Bay Region. Many of these groups will be present on the concourse providing information and awareness of the services they provide including PFLAG, and local Miracle League Baseball Chapters.
The Great Lakes Loons have been the Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers since the team's inception in 2007. Dow Diamond serves as the team's home and also houses the Michigan Baseball Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity, and ESPN 100.9-FM.
