LANSING, Mich. - Lugnuts' outfielder Ryan Noda hit a bases-clearing double off the center-field wall in the eighth inning of a tie game to give Lansing a 7-4 lead, and the Loons fell by that tally on Saturday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.
Noda, the Toronto Blue Jays' 15th-round pick in 2017, also homered to the opposite field (left-center) in the first inning as part of a five-RBI night. Two games into the series, Noda is 5-for-8 with two runs, two doubles, a triple, a home run, seven RBI, one walk and one strikeout.
The Loons equal their longest streak of the season with their sixth straight defeat. Great Lakes also dropped six consecutive from April 9-18.
Noda's home run gave Lansing a 2-0 lead in the first inning, and the Lugnuts lead 3-1 before the Loons scored three unanswered runs over a three-inning span to snag the lead in the seventh.
Catcher Darrell Miller sparked the run with a solo home run in the fifth inning, the first of his Dodgers' career. After the Loons tied the game on a bases-loaded error at third by Yeltsin Gudiño, a one-hop ground ball to left field off the bat of Carlos Rincon put the Loons up 4-3.
Dodgers' fifth-round draft pick Devin Mann tallied his first three hits in Loons' uniform, all singles, and also scored a run with a stolen base. Mann debuted last night with the Loons out of Louisville.
Friday night's contest was delayed by 13 minutes at the outset due to rain.
In pursuit of their first win of the second half, the Loons return to Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
