MIDLAND, Mich. – The Great Lakes Loons today announced Brad Tammen, President and General Manager of Great Lakes Loons, Dow Diamond and ESPN 100.9 FM radio will be designated a Loaned Executive to Saginaw Valley State University’s (SVSU) Athletic Department. In response, William Stavropoulos, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Michigan Baseball Foundation Enterprises (MBFE) announced the appointment of Michael (Mike) Hayes, Interim-President & General Manager, with direct oversight of day-to-day operations.

Hayes has been part of the organization since its inception in 2005 and brings expansive knowledge of its operations, objectives and community outreach and impact. He will be responsible for executive leadership and oversight of the Great Lakes Loons baseball franchise, ESPN 100.9 FM radio and Dow Diamond.

This opportunity will allow Brad to share his vast college athletic experiences with SVSU and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). “Since its inception, the Loons organization has been dedicated to the betterment of the Great Lakes Bay Region. This collaboration is a prime example of how by working together, we improve the quality of life in our communities,” commented Stavropoulos.

"The global pandemic is challenging all aspects of our operations. Mike has expansive leadership experience that will help guide us through both business operations and event execution,” said Stavropoulos. “As we make plans for our 2021 baseball season, his expertise will prove invaluable as we prioritize health, safety and the game-day experience for our fans.”

Hayes retired from Dow Chemical Company in 2008 as Vice President of Executive Relations where his responsibilities included managing community, business and governmental relationships. In 2010, he assumed leadership of Midland Center for the Arts, retiring from that role in 2015. Previously, Hayes served as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives for four terms after also serving as Midland County Clerk. Hayes currently serves on the International Authority for the Gordie Howe International Bridge by Governor’s appointment.

The Great Lakes Loons have been the Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers since the team’s inception in 2007.
