Juarez Reaches Base 13 Times, Drives In Five To Earn Weekly Honors

GREENEVILLE, TN - INF Raul Juarez was named the Appalachian League Player of the Week of July 22-28. The 21-year- old from Bejuma, Venezuela is the second Greeneville Reds player to earn the weekly honor, joining OF Allan Cerda who won the award June 24-30.
Juarez hit .529 (9-for-17) last week with a .619 on-base percentage. He reached base 13 times in five games played, finish- ing the week with a home run, five RBI's, and three runs scored. Juarez also drew two walks and was hit twice. Over the five games, he raised his average from .188 to .256 and his on-base percentage from .269 to .343.
Juarez reached base four times in the same game twice last week. On Wednesday 7/24 against Danville, he finished with two singles, a walk, a hit by pitch, and two runs scored. Then on Friday, 7/26 in Johnson City, he hit a solo home run and a single, drew a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He concluded the week going 3-for-5 in Johnson City on Sunday 7/28 with three singles, and an RBI.
Juarez signed with the Cincinnati Reds as Non-Drafted Free Agent on February 10, 2015. He was the only returner from the 2018 inaugural Greeneville Reds team on the 2019 Opening Day roster. Juarez hit .208 (21-for-101) with two home runs, and 13 RBI's in 32 games last year.
The Greeneville Reds begin a series at Boyce Cox Field in Bristol, VA tonight. RHP Graham Ashcraft (2-2, 5.88) will start for the Reds, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM.
