GreenJackets Fall to .500
April 27, 2014

Augusta, GA--The GreenJackets lost their third straight to the Asheville Tourists, 12-2, Sunday afternoon, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The loss puts them at .500 on the season.

Two singles and an error allowed Jeremy Sy to score the GreenJackets first run. The team's offense remained quiet until the fifth inning when Leonardo Rojas scored their final run. Rojas doubled to left field and a single by Randy Ortiz allowed Rojas to score.

Asheville's right handed pitcher, Johendi Jiminian (3-1), pitched an excellent game. He faced 26 batters in seven innings and allowed seven hits and two runs. While he only struck out one person, the GreenJackets had difficult making strong contact with the ball allowing easy outs for the Tourists.

Unlike the GreenJackets, Asheville had no problems against the pitching.A grand slam, in the third inning, by Ryan McMahon put the Tourists on top. Patrick Vailaika hit a two run home run in the seventh to place the Tourists ahead 6-1.

Six straight batters got on base and five hits in a row landed six runs scored by the Tourists, in the eighth inning, off of GreenJackets pitcher, Carlos Alvarado.

The GreenJackets head to Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday for a three game series against the RiverDogs. The team returns home on Friday, May 2nd for a four game homestand against the Greenville Drive.
